Hyundai Ioniq 6 N Review: Is It Finally Time?
By Stuart Ellis · 27 August 2026 · 16 min video
I own an Ioniq 5 N and love it, so I was keen to see whether the sleeker Ioniq 6 N sedan is the better buy. A week of hard driving in the press car gave me the answer.
The verdict
It isn't a full replacement for an analogue performance car, but it's as close to having your cake and eating it as an EV gets. Ninety per cent of the time it's a quiet, wafting EV; flick a switch and it's a genuinely engaging performance car. Much of the fear around EVs is simply out of date. Drive it back to back with a 5 N. I still prefer the 5 N's hatchback looks and practicality.

FAQ
Ioniq 6 N or Ioniq 5 N?
They drive very similarly and cost about the same. I prefer the 5 N's styling and hatchback practicality, but test drive both.
What range does the Ioniq 6 N get?
Hyundai claims 487km. In mixed driving I saw just under 400km.
Do Ioniq N cars depreciate?
Yes, heavily. Both sell for about A$123,000 driveaway, and two-year-old 5 Ns are trading around A$80,000. Go in with your eyes open.
Who shouldn't buy one?
If you don't have off-street parking for home charging, or you regularly drive big distances, think carefully.
